The Rough and Rugged 2021 Subaru Forester

Subaru has made its mark with its off-road lineup of SUVs. But nothing has been more impressive than the new compact SUV, the 2021 Subaru Forester. The great outdoors has met its match with the compact SUV. Its functionality makes this model more adventurous than ever. Its driving and handling are excellent, and it offers more ground clearance than last year's model.

What Powers the New Subaru Forester?

The Subaru Forester has one engine called the "boxer." The "boxer" is a flat-4 engine that is the flagship of Subaru's engineering. The 2.5-L of the flat-4 produces 182 hp with 176 lb-ft of torque. The all-wheel drive is standard and is mated with two driving modes being the Intelligent or Sport. The Intelligent mode is ideal for the blacktop, where the road is smooth and won't require many twists and turns. The Sport mode is suitable for off-road adventures, such as in the Outback. The Sport mode improves the Subaru Forester's handling by managing the sharp turns with increased driver control. The seven-speed automatic transmission is engineered for easy shifting between gears with quick acceleration and deceleration. When traveling, the new Subaru Forester will get on average 26 city and 33 highway mpg.

Does the Subaru Forester Provide Enough Cabin Space?

The 2021 Subaru Forester seats four passengers comfortably, but there is enough seating for five. It has been redesigned for the generous front-seat shoulder capacity. Taller adults will notice a difference in this year's Subaru Forester with added inches in legroom made available in the cabin. Front and rear-seated passengers have comfortable seating because of the plush materials used in the new and improved seating. The cargo area hosts 35.4 cubic feet of trunk space that can be expanded to 76.1cubic feet when the back seat is folded flat.

How Safe Is the New Subaru Forester?

The center console has a 6.5-inch infotainment display as standard equipment, but the new Subaru Forester offers an 8-inch touchscreen. The touchscreen displays images provided by the rearview camera. The rearview camera aids with a broader sight of vision when the vehicle is in reverse. Further, when driving on roads and highways, the 2021 Subaru Forester has as standard a lane-departure warning system. The system alerts the driver when the Subaru nears the center lane without a signal indicator. Also, there is a lane keep assist technology that will automatically adjust the direction of the SUV to stay within its designated lane.

There are EyeSight safety features. The technology is constantly monitoring the flow of traffic. The flow of traffic aids adaptive cruise control. The adaptive cruise control keeps the vehicle from a collision by remaining at a safe distance even if it requires coming to a complete stop. Also, the combination of Eyesight safety features will significantly reduce the chances of a rear-end collisions, keeping all passengers safe and minimizing any injuries associated with the impact.

The 2021 Subaru Forester offers a new standard feature, the swiveling headlamps. The new LED headlamps provide better sight of vision during periods of low visibility by projecting direct light in unison with the steering wheel. LED headlights are much cooler than halogen lamps, and they last a lot longer too.
